Here Then Are Faces
I was honored to be selected by the Fairbanks Arts Association for a solo exhibit in Bear Gallery Nov. 1 – 30, 2019. This gallery includes all of the images which were in the show.
The title, Here Then Are Faces, is a reference to a repeating line in a poem by Walt Whitman, Poem of Faces.
SAUNTERING the pavement
or riding the country by-road,
here then are faces!
The poem celebrates the diversity of occupation, character, faults and virtues of the people of America, and notes how those attributes and related emotions are reflected in the human face. In my exhibit I attempted to reveal the same in the faces of my circle of friends and acquaintances.
